Am I a leader??

Am I a Leader Hare Krishna!! As we all know that modern era is full of competitions. Without competitiveness zone, how could we understand that we are modernizing ourselves. We all seek to become a leader, a worldwide known leader!! A GOOD LEADER!!

But, but, but!!! Do we know what a leader means?? What basic criteria suit a good leader? Is a worldwide leader a good one?? Am I standing on the platform of holding a leadership role??? Let’s know about this altogether by sinking into pages of Vedic scriptures…

Unfolding the Vedic Scriptures

In Bhagavad Gita (3.21), The Supreme Personality of the Godhead says that, “Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow.  And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.” A leader cannot preach ‘NO TO SMOKING’ to his followers if he himself smokes. This would be quite absurd. This, we can say, is the basic idea of preaching to one’s followers. First preach yourself, then others. Such a leader is widely appreciated.

In Bhagavad Gita (2.58), The Supreme Lord compares such a sober person with a tortoise drawing its limbs

within the shell. Sense control is the main aspect of judging a good leader. In today’s context, a good leader is judged by the criteria of whether he is able to gratify senses of his followers or not. Nowadays, this is the most abominable situation the modern society is facing. A leader should be unbiased or impartial in nature.

Lord Rama is portrayed as the epitome of leadership all over the world. Some other examples in our history are Prahalad, Dhruva, Yuddhisthir, Bharat and others.

In Srimad Bhagavatam (5.5.18),it is stated “One who cannot deliver his dependents from the path of repeated birth and death should never become a spiritual master, a father, a husband, a mother or a worshipable demigod.”

Do we know how a leader satisfies this criteria???

A leader should be Krishna Conscious. He should follow four regulative principles- no meat eating, no gambling, no illicit sex and no intoxication. He should chant the holy names of the Supreme Lord. Without Krishna Consciousness, it is next to impossible to lead anyone, even to lead oneself. We can conclude that only a Krishna Consciousness person can rightly lead anyone. With such consciousness, one can make all together and united.

Hitler, although, bound his armies altogether was not a Krishna leader. He didn’t offer an

opportunity to himself and the masses to be Krishna Conscious. A Krishna Conscious person possesses all the 26 divine qualities (described in BG 16.1-3) which are utilised in leading someone to the right path. To the divine path of Krishna Consciousness!!

Such a leader is widely accepted, widely appreciated and widely demanded!!

Hare Krishna!!
